Lost Ending or Is It Really the End of Lost?

By - Published: Monday, May 24th, 2010

I have a hunch that Lost is far from over. With the Lost finale explanation and the Lost ending seen it seems that there is a deliberate attempt to excite the fans for a shot at another intriguing trip back to the island. Questions remained unanswered and still there are many loose ends.

I have watched Lost from beginning to its Lost ending and with my personal analysis it will not just end this way. What about the Dharma Initiative? Where did that idea come from? If the island is indeed purgatory why can people go in and out of the island? Who were the first people in this so called purgatory?

With what we see as the Lost finale explanation, we can say that the light at the center of the island is the way to heaven. This is perhaps the reason why the evil soul of Jacobs brother became the monster or black smoke that we know because he is not fit to enter heaven. However, it becomes move complicated to think that in Lost Season 6 there were two stories happening in which at the end it was revealed that all of them are dead. Hard to believe and also hard to explain.

The writers of the story ended up messing with the minds of the fans and placed all of us in a whirlwind scenario. A scenario which I myself have foreseen as early as Lost Season 2 or Lost Season 3 that indeed the island is purgatory. The moment analysis of fans went in that direction the writers and producers threw in a lot of puzzles and mix into the series which seems to disprove that analysis. Then again in the end it turns our to be true.

Are we all satisfied with the Lost finale explanation? What are our reactions to the Lost Ending?

Personally, I would really love to see Lost Season 7 being a reality but the story would be more about the beginning of the island. So that’s it for now and it had been great watching Lost.

Here are some maps of the Lost Island.

“If the island is indeed purgatory why can people go in and out of the island? Who were the first people in this so called purgatory?”

Er, the island wasn’t purgatory– it was real. “Purgatory” (or limbo, or whatever you want to call it) is what we were seeing in the flash-sideways.

I think a lot of people are getting the whole purgatory thing confused. Everything that happened on the island really did happen. The ‘side’ time line was the purgatory.

In short, everything played out and Jack died after saving the island. James, Kate, Lepidus and whatnot lived out their lives off the island while Hugo and Ben continued living on the island. after everyone died all of their souls gathered together because the time spent on the island with everyone was the most important memories they had. After that is history, I dunno where they go. :)

The island itself was not purgatory, it was completely real. Everything that happened on the island was real. The “flash sideways” were glimpses into purgatory. When each person died at any time in the future (which they didn’t show) they entered purgatory. While they were in purgatory, they each found each other, finally meeting in the church so that they could move on together (i.e. go to heaven). As for the dharma initiative, I think it was simply supposed to be just that: a scientific research company stationed on the island.

Did they ever answer what Mr. Whitmore was saying to Locke when he whispered it in his ear?

  4. Why does no one see that the Lost ending was really the triumph of Evil over Good?!

  5. I’m just horrified by this huge mess. Where can I find an realistic assessment of the true size of the spill? The information are widely different from different sources. Thanks for your good post.
