The hunky funky and masochistic looks of the Ford Explorer who bashes its way around rugged tracks seems to be tamed a little with the release of the 2011 Ford Explorer. Ford says that people nowadays are more likely to go for the urban and “usual tracks” than for the old rugged terrain and to adapt they tweaked the 2011 Ford Explorer a little bit.
The new Ford Explorer looks more like a Land-Rover than an explorer experts say. This is perhaps Ford’s recognition that majority of those buying cars nowadays are no longer interested in the Moab rock-crawling tours anymore but more of the city type traveler. Surprisingly most of the owners of the Ford Explorer when asked about the toughest terrain they encounter said that most of them never took their cars off paved roads.
The 2011 Ford Explorer moves from body-on-frame construction to a platform based on the Ford Flex and Lincoln MKS. This will turn the known SUV vehicle to a crossover look, a look which is gaining popularity today. The new 2011 Ford Explorer is set to be unveiled and release in commercial show rooms in the next few months.
