Seeing a good business opportunity with social games and the success of its Facebook games, social game developer Playdom buys out Acclaim. Included in this buyout is the popular game 2Moons. 2Moons is the North American version of the free Asian MMORPG video game Dekaron published by GameHi. The full game of 2Moons was released during the fourth quarter of 2007.

2Moons uses micropayments for premium items which can be bought from its item mall. 2Moons had outlasted its original counterpart since Dekaron SEA has ceased its operation starting May 8, 2010 since Mobiusgames and GameHi preterminated their contract.

In 2Moons players control a single character which moves around a three-dimensional world. Like other MMORPG games players need to complete quests, defeat monsters and bosses and level up plus the usual PVP and PK or Player Kill. There are seven classess in 2Moons which are Azure Knight, Segnale, Incar Magician, Segita Hunter, Vicious Summoner, Bagi Warrior, and Aloken.

Playdom had been attracted to the potential of the 2Moons games as well as the recent success of Facebook’s guitar game RockFree which to this date has more than 15 million players. Playdom also has plans to gain foothold in the studio acquisition in Los Angeles saying they are looking forward to accessing the huge talents in the region.

Playdom had been popular for its Facebook games Mobsters and Sorority Life. Since it’s business activity picker up by $43 million Playdom invested not only in Acclaim and its 2Moons and Facebook game but also invested in at least six studios: Merscom (The Crazies), Trippert Labs (Fighter Jets), Offbeat Creations (Super Farkle), Three Melons (Bola!), Green Patch (Lil Green Patch)and Argentinian firm MetroGames (Music Challenge)..
