Zakumi is an anthromorphised leopard with green hair.’ Za’ from the name stands for  an ISO 3166-1 alpha-2 code that refers to South Africa. ‘Kumi’ in return represents the number 10 in the African Language.

Born last June 16, 1994 ‘Youth Day’ in South Africa,  Zakumi is turning 16 years old this 2010. Andries Odendaal, an artist from Capetown created Zakumi. Zakumi even has a motto as a mascot that believes in fair game play.
