Bangor Daily News Highlights Women’s Victory in Primaries

Bangor Daily News, Maine’s newspaper highlights the wins of women nationwide in the primaries held Tuesday. The women victories was revealed as poll closes including the California elections results 2010 where Meg Whitman and Carly Fiorina won the GOP primaries.

The California election results 2010 sets up the historic win for women in the Republican Party. In this primary Meg Whitman, former eBay chief executive, won the GOP primary and will face Democrat Jerry Brown who has been governor for two terms. While Carly Fiorina, former Hewlett-Packard CEO won Republican U.S. Senate seat nomination and will face face Sen. Barbara Boxer.

Bangor Daily News does not only celebrate women victories in the California election results but also women victories in other states. In the state of Nevada, Sharron Angle won and will face Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid. Meanwhile in South Carolina Rep. Nikki Haley defeated three male contenders in the GOP Gubernatorial race but fell short to avoid a run-off.

Democrats too had a share of the women themed primaries as dubbed by Bangor Daily News. In the Bangor Daily News home of Maine, Libby Mithchell won the nomination for Governor of Maine defeating three opponents. In another battle, Democratic Sen. Blanche Lincoln succeeded in scoring a win over her rival in Arkansas. In the fall elections Lincoln will face Rep. John Boozman.

Still in another conservative Democrat victory, California Rep. Jane Harman won over Marcy Winograd, co-founder of the Los Angeles chapter of Progressive Democrats of America.

It seems that there will be an interesting elections in Fall and that women are becoming stronger in politics. Bangor Daily News says they will indeed be monitoring closely the results of the elections this fall.

  1. I predict this would come out better than any are predicting. We don’t want to jinx it by being overly optimistic and the media wish to lower our expectations as a way to suppress the vote.
