Finally BBC News app made its way into iPhone and iPad after being postponed several times. It has faced a lot of criticisms from the newspaper industry. The corporation would “damage the nascent market” for apps by entering the market with a free product. This has been the reaction of the Newspaper Publishers Association (NPA) earlier this year.

The newspaper industry has been struggling already with all the technology and the advancement of media spreading around. Giant news site such as BBC has been delivering news through television and even reached vast number of people in the internet world. Now that most people are nearly having smartphones or android phone on hand which runs data services anytime, BBC news on mobile form or as a downloadable application would be a another big step.

Keeping up with the modern world and reaching the majority of people has been the aim of media in whatever form it maybe. It might be a threat to the newspaper industry but we are already in the modern era and we need to upgrade ourselves as well.
